    8 days Marrakech to Chefchaouen via the Sahara desert

    Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

    Depart early from Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Stop at traditional Berber villages for panoramic views. Explore the famous Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO-listed fortress featured in Game of Thrones and Gladiator. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit the Atlas Film Studios or Taourirt Kasbah. Pass through the fragrant Valley of Roses before arriving in Dades Valley. Overnight in a charming guesthouse.

    Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga (Sahara Desert Arrival!)

    Drive through the Dades Gorges, stopping at the striking Monkey Fingers rock formations. Visit the Todra Gorge, a stunning canyon with towering 300m cliffs—perfect for a walk or photography. Continue through the desert landscape towards Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops. Arrive in Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits. Ride through the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, pausing to witness an unforgettable Sahara sunset. Spend the night in a luxury desert camp, enjoying a traditional Berber dinner, live music, and stargazing under the clear desert sky.

    Day 3: Merzouga – Nomadic Villages – Rissani – Midelt

    Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then enjoy breakfast at camp. Visit the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music, performed by descendants of African slaves. Meet a Berber nomad family and learn about their traditional way of life. Explore the Rissani market, famous for spices, dates, and the unique Berber pizza (Madfouna). Travel through the Ziz Valley, stopping for breathtaking views of palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Arrive in Midelt, a town nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, for a peaceful overnight stay.

    Day 4: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

    After breakfast, continue your journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to Barbary macaque monkeys—a great place for photos! Visit Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its European-style architecture and snowy winters. Arrive in Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Enjoy an evening stroll through Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest medieval medina, before checking into your riad.

    Day 5: Full-Day Exploration of Fes

    Begin with a guided tour of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO-listed medina with over 9,000 winding streets. Visit Al-Qarawiyyin University, the world’s oldest operating university. Explore the Chouara Tannery, where leather is dyed using traditional methods. Discover Madrasa Bou Inania, one of Morocco’s most stunning Islamic schools. Visit the Royal Palace gates, known for their intricate golden doors. Enjoy the evening at a rooftop café overlooking the bustling medina.

    Day 6: Fes – Meknes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

    Depart for Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Explore Bab Mansour, one of Morocco’s most beautiful gates. Visit Heri es-Souani, the massive granaries and royal stables of Sultan Moulay Ismail. Continue to Volubilis, a well-preserved Roman archaeological site with impressive mosaics. Journey through the Rif Mountains, arriving in Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous blue city. Enjoy an evening walk through the charming blue streets before checking into your riad.

    Day 7:Full Day in Chefchaouen (Relax & Explore!)

    Spend the day wandering the picturesque blue alleyways of Chefchaouen. Visit the Spanish Mosque for a panoramic view of the city. Explore the Kasbah Museum, which offers insights into the region’s history. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Uta el-Hammam Square, sipping Moroccan mint tea. Hike to the Ras El-Ma waterfalls, a serene spot at the edge of the medina.

    Day 8: Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca – Marrakech (Departure)

    Drive towards Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. Visit the Hassan Tower, the unfinished minaret of a 12th-century mosque. Explore the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a beautiful fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Continue to Casablanca, where you can visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque, one of the world’s largest mosques. Return to Marrakech, marking the end of your incredible Moroccan journey!
